Still alive and kicking
September 30, 2008
I feel like I haven’t blogged in ages!
Been really busy the past week in preparation for the last intensive workshop of LEAP 37–it ended spectacularly. I am once again dehydrated. Read: cryfest.
Oddly enough, you would think I’d blog about everything that happened to me during the weekend. But as with the last one, I don’t really feel like it. This is one of those you-had-to-be-there moments where, well, you simply had to be there! Hehehe
So now that coaching is over, I am once again left with nothing to do. It’s time I face the fact that I have to start looking for work again. But this time, I’m not settling for pwede na. I think I ought to let myself get The Job. Which is…what? Honestly, I think I’m starting to question what it is I really want. I know I want to be a writer. But somehow, every attempt I’ve made to pursue a career in it has resulted in states similar to the one I am in. Haha. Well I have to at least say that I haven’t really made that much effort to actually go after the writing jobs I really want. I’ve always settled for opportunities thrown right onto my lap. Now that I think about it, I’ve always opted for instant gratification. If it helps me pay the bills now, then let me at em. Maybe this time, I ought to change my attitude when it comes to (I hate the term) job hunting. Maybe I should start thinking out of the box too.
Hmmm. Oh well it’s an idea. I think I’ll try putting this one into practice after my mini vacation in Davao. I’m leaving this Saturday and won’t be back until the 15th of October. I predict I’ll have a job come November or December pa. And I do want to pursue journalism. Honest to goodness journalism.
Hay. Why the hell didn’t I think about this back in college?? Ah the past. Time to leave it all behind me. Hehe.
Aside from the job rut, I’m actually doing pretty well. Hehe at least my relationships are finally working. That, I think, is one hell of an accomplishment. Considering everything that has happened in the past. Haha oh well. C’est la vie!
ONE BIG FIGHT!

Coming home soon!
September 22, 2008
I’ve decided to come home to Davao after LEAP ends, right before I go to Bora. Yahoo! I really really miss my family and it’s my parents’ 25th wedding anniversary this Wednesday–I’ll miss it because of the intensive but instead of coming home for only 3 days, I’ll be staying there for a while. I’m hitting the beach!!! Woot! Woot!
And I can start painting again. I love it. Right in time before Tricia’s restaurant opens. hehehe I love it!
Seize the night
September 16, 2008
I just came from Diane’s exhibit and I am literally quivering with fear. No, not because of her exhibit–it was AWESOME, by the way–but mainly because the driver of the taxi I rode in was HIGH on something. It was so obvious. He was making weird sounds and he kept on shaking his head like he was having a seizure (hence the title SEIZE THE NIGHT!) and my gulay natakot talaga akoooo!!! Waaaaaaaaah
I hope I never get to ride a taxi with a driver like that again. He kept on taunting me about the extra P30 I agreed to pay him. Hello! I don’t need to be reminded every 10 minutes! And he nearly hit a dog for crying out loud!
Hay. The shower helped me calm down a bit.

On a lighter note…I feel so proud! Diane really exceeded expectations. Her photos were very inspiring…especially the one of the girl wearing a baseball RRJ cap. Kidding.
And then to top it off, I finally saw Chicoy’s latest lamp designs. They were right outside Gerry’s office and, awww, I felt teary-eyed upon seeing it. Here I go again with my penchant for waterworks. LEAP always does this to me. Turns me into a crybaby. But I love it. It’s water loss also so I’m sort of losing weight from all the crying I do. Hahaha
I crack the worst jokes.
Finally…I just have to say this. I loved CSB’s SDA building! It reminded me of San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art. White, clean, edgy. I’m an Atenista but damn it I want to study in that building! Fantastic view, excellent facilities, and, well design is sort of CSB’s forte. I’m resigned to that fact already.
But still…come game time…GO ATENEO!
Mommy’s back!
September 16, 2008
Did I mention I call my grandmother ‘mommy’?
She and Daddy just got in after going on their yearly US vacation. Awww I really missed her. The moment she got to the house…you would think she’d sleep off her jet lag. Instead, she went on to get things cleaned! Haha that’s my grandmother for you. OC to the HIGHEST LEVEL! hahaha
You’d think she’d at least pass on some of her OC genes to me…but unfortunately, the day she did that was the day I spent lazing around my bed all day. My sister got all the OC genes instead. Haha.
I’ll be checking out an exhibit at CSB later. It’s Diane’s photography exhibit. She’s my coachee this LEAP 37 and her personal goal is to hold an exhibit of her best photographs. So proud of her.:)
Now if I can only do the same for my job hunt! hahaha I’m not in panic mode yet. I have coaching to keep my mind off it. But I’m gonna have to start moving again soon. Hahaha.
My definition of a great date ;)
September 12, 2008
Yesterday was totally fun. I went out with this guy and we had such a blast hanging out together. Nothing beats having someone you can talk to about anything ALL DAY LONG. hehehe
We had breakfast at Greenhills, hung out at Starbucks for a time, watched a movie, had lunch, hung out at Figaro this time, and then the best part of the day–VIDEOKE! hahaha sa uulitin!
I’m heading up to Baguio this afternoon. I haven’t been there since 2005 so I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll be going with Tricia so that should be fun–and fattening! hahaha gotta go pack up!
West Side Story
September 4, 2008
I got to watch the gala premiere of West Side Story last night! The show was reaaally good.
I totally give kudos to Gian Magdangal who did a really great job playing Riff–the ringleader of the Jets. He’s really made for theater. Christian Bautista was, well, he was just okay. His voice came out a bit nasal at times and I kept waiting for him to really up his acting up a notch but, well, I guess not everybody is cut out for theater. He’s still really nice to look at though. Hahaha.
I got to catch the show where Maria is played by Joanna Ampil. OMG as in her performance was STELLAR. She totally carried Christian. As in I can see why she’s the toast of London’s West End. You get goosebumps hearing her sing Tonight. As in I loved her! She makes us Pinoys proud.
All in all, the musical was great. There was a bit of booboo towards the end though. During the part where Maria was cradling the dying Tony (Joanna was really in her element here!), the guy playing the inspector tripped. SPECTACULARLY. And you could tell it wasn’t part of the script. Hahaha! As in you could hear snickers coming from the audience. The guy seated beside me was even doubling over his seat with laughter. I have to give it to the inspector though. Poker face the whole time. Woot!
Nacho Libre
September 3, 2008
I loved this movie. Saw my sister’s facebook recently and she posted her favorite quotes. Hahaha funny!
Check these out:
Nacho: Chancho. When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room. It’s for fun.
Sister Encarnación: Well, my favorite color is light tan. My favourite animal is puppies. I like serving the lord. Hiking, play volleyball…
Nacho: You gotta be kidding me. Everything you just said, is MY favourite thing to do, every day!
Nacho: I’m a little concerned right now. About… your salvation and stuff. How come you have not been baptized?
Esqueleto: Because I never got around to it ok? I dunno why you always have to be judging me because I only believe in science.
Nacho: I’m not listening to you! You only believe in Science. That’s probably why we never win!
Esqueleto: We never win because you are fat!
Nacho: I know the wrestlers get all the fancy ladies, and the clothes, and the fancy creams and lotions. But my life is good! Really good! I get to wake up every morning, at 5AM, and make some soup! It’s the best. I love it. I get to lay in a bed, all by myself, all of my life! That’s fantastic! Go. Go away! Read some books!
Nacho: Beneath the clothes, we find a man… and beneath the man, we find his… nucleus.
